2011 Expedition to Antarctica

The primary objective of our expedition is to test a method of using specialized metal detectors to search for meteorites (a natural object from outer space that has entered our atmosphere and has impacted the ground without being destroyed) below the surface as well as on the surface of the ice.

We plan to survey meteorites and micrometeorites (very small meteorites) at and near the South Pole and on the Union Glacier in the Ellsworth Mountainsof Antarctica. The lead scientist on the expedition is Landon Curt Noll.
